Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

Eternal Spaces is meant to work for people who use a screen reader, a keyboard alone, speech input or magnification, on a phone or a desk. The standard we hold to is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the one the Department of Justice has adopted for state and local government web content under Title II of the ADA, with compliance dates in 2027 and 2028 depending on the size of the public body.

What that means on this site

  • Every page starts with a skip link and has a heading outline and landmarks; buttons, links and forms can be reached and used with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring (the map is the exception, below).
  • Color never carries meaning alone: a space’s status is written next to it wherever it is shown, and links in text are underlined.
  • Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios; pages work at 200% zoom and on a phone; forms have visible labels and plain error messages.
  • Certificates and receipts are produced as text PDFs, not scanned images, so they can be read aloud and searched.

The map, and what stands in for it

The interactive cemetery map is drawn by a mapping library and is not fully operable by keyboard or screen reader. Nothing is available only through it: the search box finds a space by its number or a person by name, the “available spaces” list shows what the city has for sale, the records page searches interments, and every space has its own record page that can be linked to directly. The certificate verification page works without the map.

How it is checked

The public pages are checked with automated tools (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules) and by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader. Last review: October 19, 2026. Sign-in and card payment use Clerk and Stripe, which publish their own accessibility information. Cities evaluating Eternal Spaces can ask for the current test results.

If something is in your way

If any part of this site is hard to use, or you need a record, certificate or receipt in another format, write to hello@eternal-spaces.com or call the cemetery office listed on the city’s page. The city remains the keeper of the record and can provide it on paper or in person; nothing on this site is the only way to reach it. We answer within two business days and fix what we can.
